Exploring Our Parks and Trails

Throughout the community, parks and trails have been established to enable residents to enjoy this natural beauty. The parks and trails are shown on the Town of Richmond Hill's Guide to Parks & Trails

There are larger parks that include soccer fields and ball diamonds along with a wide variety of neighbourhood green spaces with playgrounds for the young fry. Ozark Park includes the Bond Lake Arena for hockey and recreational skating. Sunset Beach Park offers picnicking with a great view of Lake Wilcox and recreational skating on the lake in winter. It is currently undergoing a transformation as the new Oak Ridges Community Centre is now under construction. The Centre will house a swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness studio, aerobics room, ecological centre and support facilities. Plans for the park include a waterfront trail, water play area, skateboard park and basketball courts. For more information on the plans for the park and Community Centre visit: www.richmondhill.ca

Throughout the community, nature trails meander through the green spaces. Most are shown on the trail map but new ones are being developed each year. Trails on the west side of Yonge Street are described in more detail in the “Walks on the Wild Side” brochure Oak Ridges Moraine Walk.

Current and future trail information can be found in the Trails Master Plan at: www.richmondhill.ca/documents/rh_trails_master_plan.pdf

It is always a good idea to check the Town of Richmond Hill web site for new parks and trails information.

All of these parks and trails provide a place for a stroll or to just sit and relax while watching and listening to the birds or the many amphibians that inhabit our numerous waterways.
